The enhancement of geothermal power projects is one of the strategic and environmental friendly energy sources, which also becomes the priority of the Government of Indonesia in securing alternative energy sources.

This is in line with the Government's policies in energy diversification, fuel oil (Bahan Bakar Minyak = BBM) consumption reduction and anticipating the rise in electricity demands in lndonesia, especially in North Sumatera.

Sarulla Geothermal Project is a core part of the Indonesian government's electricity development program (the FastTrack Program II) and a private sector financed geothermal project to successfully conclude power purchase arrangements under that program. To support the electricity demands in North Sumatera, Sarulla Operations Ltd. ("SOL") has built the largest geothermal power plant in the world in a single contract with the capacity of 3 x 110 MW ("Project"). The location of the Project is Pahae Julu and Pahae Jae Districts, North Tapanuli Regency, North Sumatra Province.

The Project will be fueled by steam and brine from two production and injection facilities at Silangkitang ("SIL") and Namora-I-langit ("NIL") reservoirs. The plants of the Project will apply Geothermal Combined Cycle Units ("GCCU") which are more efficient than conventional flash type geothermal power plants. The plants will capture the steam and brine from the wells and produce energy throughout the day and is intended for base load operation. The condensate steam and the brine water will be re-injected into underground via wells to maintain sustainable geothermal resources. The Project also include approximately 20 km transmission line from plants to the 150/275 KV substation.

Control and Instrumentation Engineer

COMPANY OVERVIEW

Sarulla Operations Ltd ("SOL") is a geothermal producer company who operates Geothermal Power Plant with 330 MW installed capacity in North Sumatra, Indonesia. SOL sponsored by multinational corporations, they are MEDCO, ORMAT, ITOCHU, KYUSHU and INPEX. SOL has built the world's largest Geothermal Power Plant in one contract. Sarulla Geothermal Power Plant has fully operated since 2018. SOL project is located in Pahae Julu and Pahae Jae Districts, North Tapanuli Regency, North Sumatra Province; and keep exploring further development in the surrounding area.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The Control & Instrumentation Engineer will be responsible for leading the design, development, and implementation of instrumentation and control systems for next-generation geothermal power plant and a new project. This role will be accountable for the initial technical development and verification of projects scopes and undertake the following tasks:

Provide technical support to control & instrumentation work related to O&M and projects.
Provide support as a facilitator for problem analysis, risk assessment, root cause analysis, for extremely critical equipment failures.
In association with the Maintenance Systems group, review and update the technical content of the preventive maintenance procedures and recommend changes were improvements in safety, quality or economy may be affected.
Prepare, review, and approve instrumentation data sheets such as Control valve, On-Off Valves, Safety Relief Valves & other field instruments.
Conduct plant modifications according to central design specification, submit any self-generated design changes to specialist engineers for approval before implementation.
Understanding of maintenance and binary geothermal production work processes.
Provide technical support for the projects, equipment upgrades, commissioning of new plants and existing power plant equipment.
Ability to read instrumentation drawings, panel drawings, PLC/DCS logic diagrams and DCS configuration.

REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor’s degree in electronic, instrumentation engineering.
Minimum of 8 years’ experience in Instrumentation and Control System Engineering field.
General understanding of Equipment Problem Report (EPR) and Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) document and the relationship between drawings and specifications.
Excellent in field instrument, control system (AB, Siemens PLC) and SCADA human machine interface system (Citect/Aveva) development.
Good communication and reporting skills both verbal and in writing, specifically in English
Having experience in multi-national project development performed in various countries is desirable but not essential.
Good computer skills
Excellent health condition & able to work outdoor/mobile.
Willingness to work on weekends, holidays and overtime and relocate in Tarutung, Nort Sumatera.
