As Indonesia is positioning  the geothermal  energy as its strategic  power source, the country  holds the world's largest amount of potential  geothermal resources around 40%. The enhancement  of geothermal  power projects  is one of the  strategic  and environmental   friendly  energy sources, which also becomes the priority  of the Government  of Indonesia in securing alternative  energy sources.
This is in line with  the Government's  policies in energy diversification,  fuel oil (Bahan Bakar Minyak = BBM)  consumption  reduction and anticipating  the  rise in electricity  demands in lndonesia, especially in North Sumatera.
Sarulla Geothermal Project is a core part of the Indonesian government's electricity  development  program (the FastTrack Program II) and a private sector financed  geothermal  project  to successfully conclude power purchase arrangements  under  that  program. To support the electricity demands in North Sumatera, Sarulla Operations Ltd. ("SOL") has built the largest geothermal power plant in the world in a single contract with the capacity of 3 x 110 MW ("Project"). The location  of the Project is Pahae Julu and Pahae Jae Districts, North Tapanuli Regency, North Sumatra Province.
The Project will be fueled by steam and brine from two production and injection  facilities at Silangkitang ("SIL") and Namora-I-langit ("NIL") reservoirs. The plants of the Project will apply Geothermal Combined Cycle Units ("GCCU") which are more efficient than conventional flash type geothermal power plants. The plants will capture the steam and brine from the wells and produce energy throughout  the day and is intended for base load operation. The condensate steam and the brine water will be re-injected  into underground  via wells to maintain  sustainable geothermal  resources. The Project also include approximately  20 km transmission line from plants to the 150/275 KV substation.

POSITION SUMMARY
  • Provide technical support to the project management team, especially at the construction site. Supervise and coordinate aspects of the site construction, installation, implementation, monitoring QA/QC and provide regular reports mainly on the aspects of civil discipline.
  • At the early stage of the project, will focus on the performance of the Project’s Infrastructure Construction.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Under supervision of the Construction Project Manager and in close coordination with SOL’s relevant sections, to undertake the following tasks and responsibilities:
  • Provide technical support to site management team
  • Monitors the activities of various project contractors and ascertain full compliance to the construction program, QA/QC, and HSE
  • Be the representative witness of the Company for QA/QC related tests
  • Prepare notices for Contractors’ non-compliance(s) to QA/QC programs
  • Coordinate activities among various Contractors at the site and coordination of different disciplines of engineering (i.e. mechanical, electrical, C&I)
  • Collects documents from contractors on records of QA/QC
  • Coordinates with Company’s scheduling engineer for updating overall project schedule
  • Review of Contractor’s drawing and other document submittals
  • Assist in reviewing, validating, justification and/or rejection of Contractors’ claims for variation orders
  • Checks bill of materials as per the design requirements, ensures the equipment, parts availability either manufactured abroad via international shipment or locally purchased items;
  • Collects all relevant documents mostly equipment manuals, test reports, compliance certificates for the project turn over.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED
  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in construction supervision and management, preferably relating to the combinations of massive earthwork, concrete works, roads and bridges
  • Knowledge of various QA/QC testing related to soil, concrete and other materials and works related to civil construction
  • Good computer skills; preferably knowledge in working with AutoCAD and MS Project
  • Knowledge of civil engineering design an advantage
  • Good communication and reporting skills both verbal and in writing, specifically in English
  • Having experiences in multi-national project development performed in various countries is desirable but not essential
  • Ability and willingness to travel and relocate in Tarutung, North Sumatera
  • Ability to work weekends, holidays and overtime as necessary
  • Good health. Ability to work outdoors
