SMART’s palm oil plantations cover more than 138,000 hectares (including smallholder farmers). Our primary activities are cultivating and harvesting oil palms, processing fresh fruit bunches (FFBs) into crude palm oil (CPO) and palm kernel, and refining CPO into value-added products such as cooking oil, margarine, and shortening. We operate 16 mills, four kernel crushing plants and four refineries across Indonesia.

Besides bulk and industrial oil, SMART’s refined products are also marketed under several brands such as Filma and Kunci Mas. Today, these brands have been recognised for their high quality and command significant market share in their respective segment in Indonesia.

Founded in 1962, SMART was listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange in 1992 and is based in Jakarta. A subsidiary of Golden Agri-Resources (GAR), SMART has the oleochemical business, Sinarmas Oleochemical (PT SOCI MAS) and the SMART Research Institute (SMARTRI) within its operations.

Posisi:

Crop Protection Staff (Phytopathology)

Job responsibilities :

Communicate and coordinate trial related works (permit, location, equipment, worker etc) for both intra and extra department or division.
Plan strategy and prepare budget for research related to pest, disease and weed.
Communicate research results to other proffesionals or the public or teach for both internal or external in courses, seminars or workshop.
Conduct experiment to develop new or improved varieties, focusing on disease resistance.
Develop new or improved methods by using newest technology or products and innovative approach for controlling disease and reducing pesticide usage.
Provide information or recommendations to operational and smallholder farmers to avoid or correct problem cause by the disease.
Develop environmentally safe method or products for controlling disease.

Job requirements :

S1/S2
In depth knowledge in Pyhtopathology
Good addition knowledge about ganoderma, fungi and bacteria including soil microbes
Good understanding about PCR including primers and sequencing of diseases
Good communication in English both written and speaking
Willing to work in laboratory or field
Has a good adaption to environment
